The already sleek and sexy Windows Phone device is being made available in a new colour and it’s looking great.
Officially dubbed snow-white, the glossy colour isn’t just painted on, it’s actually dyed all the way through and milled to give it a solid, high-tech feel. The choice of using a polycarbonate instead of metal also helps keep the reception free and clear of interruptions.
“We had to try hundreds of white pigments to achieve the right colour and opaqueness.” says colour and material designer Tiina Aarras“I’ve seen the process,” says Aarras, “It is really beautiful to see the mixing of the polycarbonate liquid. Nothing could emphasise more that we’re not creating a paint, but a colour that’s completely integral to the product.”
Although no date has been confirmed, Nokia did state that the white Nokia Lumia 800 is due to be rolled out firrt in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Scandinavia, Finland, Poland and Switzerland, with other countries to follow.
